Indian Mutton Chops |
This recipe of juicy and flavorful mutton chops is shared with me by my sister in law Anjali.
The chops are cooked in Indian spices and are coated with egg batter and then deep fried. They simply taste out of the world.These delicious mutton chops can be served as appetizers to please your friends and family.


Ingredients :
20 mutton chops
salt as per taste
oil for deep frying
one cup water
Marinade
1 tbsp yogurt
3 tsp garlic paste
4 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp mint paste
4 tsp coriander paste
you can make single paste using all above ingredient
2 tsp dhana jeera powder
2 tsp shaan mutton chop masala or
2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida
For coating
2 tbsp all purpose flour
1 tbsp corn flour
1 egg
1 tsp garlic ginger paste
Tempering :
1 tbsp oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
pinch of asafoetida and turmeric powder
Directions :
| 1 | Combine all the ingredients listed under marinade and marinate the mutton chops for minimum 30 min . More the time you marinate the chops better the flavors. |
| 2 | Heat oil in a pressure cooker on high heat. Once oil is hot add ingredients listed under tempering. Saute for two to three minute. |
| 3 | Add marinated mutton chops. Stir the mutton chops well with the oil, add water and stir well again |
| 5 | Put the lid on pressure cooker and after three whistle lower the flame to medium and simmer for 10 minutes. |
| 6 | Wait until the pressure cooker cools down and open the pressure cooker. |
| 7 | Separate the watery masala gravy from the chops. This can be used to make the batter for coating. |
| 8 | Combine all ingredients listed under coating, add about 2 tbsp masala gravy to make the mixture thinner. |
| 10 | Batter for the coating should be thick enough to coat the chops well. |
| 11 | Take chops out of the cooker .Let them cool completely. Coat them with remaining masala gravy. |
| 12 | Deep each chop in the batter coat it well. |
| 14 | Keep pan on medium heat and add sufficient oil for deep frying. Temperature of the oil should be such that the coating should not brown immediately. |
| 15 | Once the oil is hot drop the mutton chops in the oil and fry till golden brown. |
| 16 | Now put them on paper towel to absorb excess oil. Serve it with pudina chutney or chutney of your choice. |
