Almond Powder/Badamachi Pud |
The importance of almonds has been mentioned in Ayurveda, there is lot of goodness packed in this small nut.
Almonds are considered to be nutritious for the brain and nervous system. They have "good" fats in them that help in lowering cholesterol and abundance of vitamin E which is skin friendly.

Ingredients :
1 cup almonds
Directions :
| 1 | Place almonds on a microwave safe plate and microwave for a minute. Roasting helps remove any moisture from the almonds and they become slightly brittle hence becomes easier for making fine powder. |
| 2 | Give standing time for 1 min and again microwave for a minute and again standing time of one minute. |
| 3 | From now on microwave for 30 sec at a time with a standing time of 30 sec. |
| 4 | The entire process of roasting takes about 3 to 4 min and the entire process including the standing time takes 7 to 8 min. |
| 5 | Let the almonds cool completely. Blend them to a fine powder and store in refrigerator in a air tight container upto 15 days. |
Note :
- Almond powder can be substituted as a low fat option for cashews in gravies.
- Almond powder can be added to desserts like kheer, ladoos, khajur rolls to increase their taste and nutritive value.
- Add a pinch of cardamom powder, some saffron strands and pinch of nutmeg powder to 2 tbsp almond powder to 1 cup of milk and Masala dudh is ready.
- Almond powder can be used in many beauty treatments
- 1. Mask - mix one teaspoon each of oatmeal powder, almond powder , honey and yogurt. Apply on the face and wash it off after 10 minutes.
- 2. For Pigmentation - Mix almond powder with curd and apply. Rub gently on the skin. Leave on for 5 minutes and wash it off with water.
