Roasted Cumin Powder Bhuna Jeera |
Bhuna Jeera, I got to know this interesting tasting spice powder from my friend Poonam and I was amazed to experience Jeera in such a different form and taste.
Its smoky flavour goes very well on any kind of chat and buttermilk.

Ingredients :
1/4 cup Cumin seeds (Jeera)
Directions :
| 1 | Heat heavy bottom skillet on medium high, once hot turn the heat to medium and roast the Cumin seeds. |
| 2 | Roast until they become darkbrown in colour (about 5 - 7 min). |
| 3 | Pound it with pestle and mortar to form a course powder. |
Note :
- Do not blend the powder, the texture is as important as the taste.
- The Cumin seeds yield to slight pressure, you can just rub them between your palms and they are ready to use.
- Maharashtrians do roast Cumin seeds but it is atleast 2 shades lighter and then powder it in blender to get the Jeera powder but believe me this has a totally different flavour.
