Kobichi Bhaji/Patta Gobi Sabzi/Dry Cabbage Veggie |
The anti-cancer properties in cabbage makes it a powerful healing agent in combating the much feared disease, cancer.
It has high levels of calcium, iron, iodine, potassium, sulfur, and phosphorus and is loaded with vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, C, E, K and folic acid. Cabbage soup diet is also helps in short term weight loss goals. Here is a simple recipe of cabbage made nutty with addition of chana dal.

Ingredients :
2 cups of chopped cabbage
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 tsp chana dal, soaked in water for 10 to 15 minutes
peanut powder
chopped coriander
1 tsp grated coconut (optional)
Salt as per taste
Spices :
3 chopped green chillies or as per taste
Tempering :
1 tbsp oil
˝ tsp musturd seeds
pinch of asafoetida
pinch of turmeric powder
Directions :
| 1 | Heat oil in a pan. Once oil is hot add ingredients listed under tempering. |
| 2 | Add green chillie and saute for a minute. |
| 3 | Add chana dal and chopped onion and fry it till onions turn golden brown. |
| 4 | Add chopped cabbage, salt, peanut powder and close the pan by putting lid on it. |
| 5 | Cook it for 15 minutes on medium flame. Add chopped coriander and coconut, mix it well. |
| 6 | Serve hot with chapati or as a side vegetable with dal and rice. |
Note :
- Avoid buying precut cabbage that are either halved or shredded. The moment the cabbage is cut, it begins to lose its nutrient contents.
- o store, keep the vegetable refrigerated in a perforated plastic bag to prevent loss of its vitamin C.
