Thalipith made with pulses and legumes |
Thalipith is savoury pancake made from various flours . It is delicious and high on nutrition due to incorporation of various pulses and legumes.
Ingredients :
Thalipith bhajni - 2 cups
Onions - 1 cupSalt - to taste
Green chilli - to taste
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Coriander - 1/2 cup
Water - appr. 1 cup
Directions :
1.Mix all the above ingredients except water.
2.Add 1 tbsp of oil and make a soft dough by adding water.
3.Divide the dough into into tennis ball sized balls.
4.Heat pan and grease it with some oil. Place the dough ball on the pan and flatten it with the help of fingers.
Use little water so that the dough does not stick to the hand . Needs to be done carefully.
If the above method seems difficlut you can roll the dough ball with a rolling pin on on plastic and then transfer it to a greased pan.
5.Place the thalipith on the greased pan and cook both side until golden brown and crispy.
This takes about 3 -4 min on each side and should be done on medium flame only.
Apply butter while cooking. Serve hot with curd or unsalted butter.
Note :
Instant bhajni - Take equal parts of atleast four or all flours . Wheat , rice , bajri , jowar , soyabean , ragi , urid dal , mung dal.
For 2 cups of the above flour mixture 2 tsp coriander powder.
Mix all flours and dry roast for 2 min in microwave or 5 min on stove flame. Allow to cool to room temperature.
Crispy thalipith- Press thalipith for a min on both sides while still on pan with the help of a spatula.
Variation :
You can add green leafy vegetables like palak or methi to make it more healthy and tasty.
